For many years Amusement Technical had wanted to do a full AC conversion on a Zierer Wave Swinger. The opportunity came with Lagoon Park in 2025.

“This is a beautiful job, technically very challenging due to the space available but a lovely retrofit for the obsolete hydraulic system,” comments Sean Brian, Amusement Technical Managing Director.

• Only the lift remains on hydraulic power with a new custom designed power pack housed on the mast in the centre.
• Both mast and hood powered via AC motors and inverter drives.
• Allen Bradley compact logix PLC with point IO safety, including distributed IO to the rotating mast, via EthernetIP transmitted across a data slip ring attached underneath the power unit in the former location of the troublesome hydraulic rotating coupling.
• Fully compliant with the functional safety requirements of EN13814 and ASTM2291.

The pirate boat at Lagoon Park is also on an Amusement Technical control and drive system installed in 2019.

The wave swinger now sits in the Amusement Technical catalogue of pre-engineered works and is available for Zierer wave swingers around the world.
